SBA offers disaster loans to businesses
The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering low-interest disaster loans to Texas businesses affected by Hurricane Ike.
Houston areas included are Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Montgomery, San Jacinto and Waller counties.
Businesses of any size and private, nonprofit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory and other business assets.
SBA is also offering assistance with funds for making improvements that protect, prevent or minimize the same type of disaster damage from occurring in the future.
Small businesses and most private, nonprofit organizations also have the option of applying for Economic Injury Disaster Loans to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster.
To be considered for any of the funding, businesses should call the Federal Emergency Management Agency at 1-800-621-3362.
The filing deadline to return applications for property damage is Nov. 12. The EIDL application deadline is June 15.
